Storm VaporizerLast update: October 3, 2018
A recent trend has developed in the industry of portable vaporizers: using input from vaporizer critics to create/revamp devices. The Storm Vaporizer is an example of one of these projects and was created with the assistance of renowned Youtube vaporizer critic, Vapefiend. Previous iterations of the Storm have been put to shame by this new version, created with the help of vapor enthusiasts like you.The Storm is a pen-sized vaporizer that features quick heating and interchangeable parts at an affordable price.
Storm Vaporizer Review
The first bit of good news with the Storm Vaporizer is that it is a dual-use vaporizer, it can handle both herbs and concentrates. Flexibility with materials is almost an industry standard feature at this point and it is a nice feature. It uses safe, non-toxic ceramic for its heating chamber and heats up quickly when you turn it on. The heat-up time for this device has been clocked at a timely 60 seconds. Many vaporizers with the hard steel enclosures like the Storm have issues with overheating, but everything that’s being said about the Storm leaves the impression that it cools down quite easily. The Storm is a well-built vaporizer that offers premium features at an inexpensive price point. Vapefiend was involved heavily with the construction and design of this device. His team was sent the initial design and improved upon it, setting up a collaboration with the Storm Vaporizer group in China. This device is a result of hard work and input from a real user and it shows.
Dual-use Vaporizer With a Jolt
Since you are purchasing a dual-use vaporizer, you might be interested in how this device handles wax, oils, and concentrates. They’ve included a steel wax chamber that is interchangeable with the ceramic chamber for dry herbs. This chamber is easier to clean and load with wax than the somewhat more cumbersome ceramic version. You can also purchase a titanium concentrate capsule from the Vapefiend website that will allow you to taste even more of the concentrate you decide to use. The ceramic chamber is no slouch either and is nice and roomy. At max capacity, it can hold up to 0.5 grams of finely ground herb.
5 Temperature Settings
The Storm Vaporizer can definitely provide enough power to vaporize your herbs and concentrates. They’ve also added some functionality to the temperature control system, likely at the behest of their vapor experts. The LED light will flash until it has reached its desired temperature setting and it has a temperature range of 356°F to 428°F, which is more than enough for avoiding combustion. It features 5 different temperature settings to simplify things a bit, they are:
- 356°F (180°C)
- 374°F (190°C)
- 392°F (200°C)
- 410°F (210°C)
- 428°F (220°C)
The Storm Vaporizer includes a moderately powerful battery, its own personal brand that has a 18650 rating. You can, of course, replace this battery with a rechargeable 18650 of your own. However, be aware that some batteries will not be able to match the specifications of Storm’s own design, so performance may vary. That being said, this device has been outfitted with a 5 minute auto-shutoff function to preserve power. You’ll be glad to know that this little device can get up to an hour of use out of one battery. Thanks to the rechargeable factor, this means you could be vaping for a very long time.
One of the selling points for the Storm Vaporizer is that is compatible with a wide range of accessories that can add some incredible functionality to this device. The initial price is not much, so if you have any money left over, it might be a good idea to check out what else you can do with it. Most of the parts are interchangeable, so you can buy things like a custom glass mouthpiece and an adapter for water pipes. Currently, it equips a food-grade rubber mouthpiece so you don’t have to worry about the base model compromising on flavor. Using the low temperature option with the normal mouthpiece will still supply some very fresh vapor that is packed with natural flavor. However, it’s still worth your time to check out the options for mouthpieces and bubblers.
Simply Made, Made Easy
With many devices that come out of China, there is an understandable fear that they will not be built with the same level of rigor found here in the States. However, that is not the case with the Storm. It is enclosed in a steel casing and is nearly indestructible from regular use. Again, it has been extensively tested and approved by a regular vaporizer user. It features many of the components that typically come with a well-built device, as well. Including, the isolated air path that allows your vapor to avoid any of the mess that comes with water vapor and toxic electronic parts. It has a simple one-button control scheme that brings clean vapor to your lips with a total of 3 button presses. All of its functionality is in full display and available to even the most layman of users.

The Storm Vaporizer is one of the more exciting products to be revealed by a vaporizer critic, including the vaporizer released by Vapecritic. However, it would appear that the Storm sets itself apart in the budget pen-vaporizer market. It’s hard to find something at this price that comes with dual-use functionality and a steel enclosure. Typically, if you have more features at this level, you can expect a lag in build quality and longevity. That doesn’t appear to be the case with the Storm and it has received some acclaim since its release, especially when it comes to its durability. This is a product that won’t blow your doors off but will definitely do its job with aplomb. With a blue-collar work ethic like that, it’s hard not to like the Storm Vaporizer.
